Job Description:
We are seeking Histology Professionals to join the LabCorp team
where we are dedicated to providing the highest quality medical
laboratory services. Come work in our Pathology laboratory located
in Phoenix, Arizona alongside a highly trained staff with the
latest technology. Our services are performed with the utmost care,
expertise, integrity and respect for the patient.Work Schedule: 2nd
shift - 2- to 10:30 PM Tuesday - SaturdayJob
Responsibilities:Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in
preparation for microscopic examPerform technical duties related to
the production of histopathological slides of surgical
specimensSection the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount
the section properly on a microscope slidePerform various
immunohistochemical tests on formalin fixed paraffin embedded
tissue sectionsProcess mounted sections through routine and special
staining proceduresProperly orient and embed surgical tissue
specimensPrepare the stains and reagents needed for special
proceduresReport accurate and timely test results in order to
deliver quality patient careOperate and maintain manual and
automated instrumentsPerform and document equipment maintenance as
neededRecord equipment log data in an accurate and timely
mannerPerform and document preventive maintenance and quality
control proceduresAdhere to the laboratory's quality control
policiesFollow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling
and processing, analysis and reportingDocument problems that may
affect test performance and perform corrective actions as
neededRequirements:Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological
science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet
local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirementsHistology and/or ASCP
certifications are preferredPrevious experience in histology is
preferred but not requiredFamiliarity with routine histology
procedures and equipmentImmunohistochemistry experience is a
plusComfortability embedding both large and small specimensAbility
to accurately read all labels and documentsHighly organized with a
strong attention to detailExperience working in a high volume
laboratory environment is desirableFamiliarity with laboratory SOPs
and safety protocolsMust be able to pass a standardized color
vision screenTechnical ResponsibilitiesPrepare slides for
pathologist and external clients for interpretationPerform routine
and special microtomy proceduresPerform routine H&E stains, IHC
and special stainsPerform routine tissue embeddingPerform Quality
control of histology stainsOperate and maintain histology equipment
not limited to tissue processors, and automated staining
platformAid in troubleshoot and resolving inquiries or problems
within the laboratory follow all technical standard operating
