Job Summary:
We are working with a client that is seeking a dynamic Supplier
Surveillance/Development Specialist dedicated to enhancing supplier
management within their operations. This role will focus on
logistical oversight and strategic discussions to ensure supplier
objectives align with the company's goals. Strong
relationship-building skills are essential as this position has a
significant financial impact on business.
Key Responsibilities: Lead Continuous Improvement: Drive ongoing
improvements at suppliers, ensuring adherence to delivery
schedules, quality standards, and cost management through effective
communication and relationship building.
Supplier Compliance Review: Assess manufacturing and special
processes to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for
enhancement while evaluating procurement costs for optimal sourcing
decisions.
Supply Chain Management: Manage and monitor the supply chain to
support profit and loss initiatives, emphasizing continuous
improvement, lean manufacturing, and capacity assessments.
Program Management: Oversee product transitions, including risk
mitigation and supplier capacity analysis. Conduct OEM rate
readiness reviews to prepare for upcoming changes.
Supplier Engagement: Collaborate with underperforming suppliers to
identify root causes of issues and develop project plans for
corrective actions, ensuring timely and quality supply
delivery.
Supplier Assessment: Conduct evaluations to categorize suppliers
(e.g., manage out, increase volume) and work with specialists and
commodity managers to meet the company's strategic goals.
NPI Supplier Support: Assist with managing test schedules and
qualification activities while facilitating communication with the
engineering team.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering and
Quality departments to ensure the delivery of parts that meet
specifications outlined in contracts, achieving the best value for
the organization.
Utilize Operational Knowledge: Apply Supply Chain management
expertise, lean concepts, operations, and quality systems in all
activities.
Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned,
which may extend beyond the primary role.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing,
Industrial, Quality) or Business; additional qualifications may be
considered as a substitute for formal education.
Experience: 8-10 years of relevant experience, including at least 4
years in supplier management within a heavy manufacturing context.
SAP experience is preferred.
Skills and Competencies: Exceptional verbal and written
communication skills, showcasing effective and persuasive
communication while nurturing supplier relationships.
Strong program/project management and conflict resolution
abilities, with excellent organizational skills and the capacity to
manage multiple time-sensitive deadlines.
Proven expertise in developing supplier relationships and adeptness
in addressing difficulties with problematic suppliers.
Sound understanding of legal terms and concepts relevant to
procurement and manufacturing.
Familiarity with machining, fabrication, and composite
manufacturing methods, along with lean concepts and shop floor
control.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of
Access is a plus.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to work more than eight hours
per day and five days per week as needed.
Capable of ascending and descending stairs (specific to certain
divisions).
Frequent walking, handling, and manipulation of objects, along with
occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, and ability to maintain
visual acuity and depth perception.
